FERGUSON'S BIGGEST MISTAKE WAS LETTING POGBA LEAVE UNITED

Zinedine Zidane believes Sir Alex Ferguson made one of the biggest mistakes of his Manchester United tenure when the Scot let Paul Pogba leave the club.

Ferguson allowed the talented midfielder to leave for Juventus in 2012 after the Frenchman asked for more playing time and a £20,000-a-week contract, but Zidane feels Pogba would have been the perfect replacement for Paul Scholes.

Zidane told The Sunday Mirror: 'The word ‘mistake’ is not something you would normally associate with Alex Ferguson’s time at Manchester United.
'But I do think it was a mistake letting Paul Pogba leave.

'He will go on to be one of the best central midfield players in Europe and he was the natural successor to Paul Scholes, someone they could have built the team around.

Pogba has been enjoying a spectacular season in Serie A and was named 'Golden Boy' as the best young player in Europe for December.

The 20-year-old has made 22 appearances for Juventus so far this season, scoring five goals along the way.

Former Juventus legend, Zidane, also hinted that Madrid would be keeping tabs on the youngsters development.

He added: 'He is with Juventus and doing very well but, as always, Real Madrid will be looking to add the best players in the world.'
