TABLE TOPPING TEAMS ACROSS EUROPE AND THEIR TOP PERFORMING PLAYERS(3) ....ARSENAL

Arsenal are top of the table going into the new year 2014! No one saw its coming, not even Arsene Wenger! A opening day defeat to Aston Villa in front of their home fans will have helped confirm the pundits prediction of Arsenal finishing outside of the top four, most especially after the north london club spent over a 100million pounds bringing new players to strengthen a squad that seems to already be catching ground on their bitter rivals. But Alas a few month into the new season, the difference in class couldn't have been made more obvious than during the FA Cup match that saw Arsenal won comfortably.

A team said to be on the brink of crisis at the beginning of the season now looks like a team on the brink of success after many years of been without one.
At this point last year they sit 6th on the table behind bitter rivals with 34points, but this year they sit atop on the log with 45 points! Though just one point ahead of Manchester City but nonetheless Wenger and his Arsenal faithfuls will be more than happy to be where they are now.

The signing of Mesut Ozil has proved crucial, not just because of the 4goals and 7assists he has contributed so far, but in changing the mentality at the Emirates inspiring other players to step up their game. This has been the game changer in Arsenal this season that almost all the squad members have performed admirably that picking their 5 best players this term looks difficult. The team has been that good! Nonetheless we will still look at Arsenal's best performers this year.

RAMSEY.... Has been Arsenal star performer for the season and not even the summer signiging Mesut ozil. 8 goals and 6assists in 17(1) appearances. He is probably the best box to box midfielder in the land! Defensively he has been equally outstanding completing 3.7tackles per game, Arsenal's best tackler for the seasoon. He is also the team best passer in terms of number of passes completed. He completes an average of 70.1 passes by game.

GIROUD... Though he isn't the finished article yet but the frenchman to a certain extent has prove his critics wrong, 8goals and 5assists in 18 games. At his current strike rate he is on course to score more than he did last term.

OZIL.... The signing of the summer! He has proved himself worthy of every penny spent. 4goals, 7assists, 3key passes per game, 67.7 passes per game at 87.1% completion are great stats but stats which cannot measure the new self belief his signing has brought to Arsenal! The fearsome factor is, Ozill can only get better!

PER MERTESACKER... The big German has been the calming influence at the back for Arsenal. Arsenal progress this season has been built on defensive solidity;they have the best defensive and kept the most clean sheet,9. Mertesacker has been instrumental to this. The big German records an average clearance of 6.1 per game, 1.4 tackles and winning 73% of his aerial duels. At the other end he has grabbed 2 goals and 1assist.

SAGNA... Sagna has been a rock in the right back position for the gunners. He has been reliable in the air, winning an aerial duel more often than either centre back. The.Frenchman has been getting stuck in, winning a tackle every 76 minutes, as well as showing the defensive savvy that comes with the years of experience he has. Sagna has been cool under pressure, making 69 successful clearances, as well as not making a single defensive error all season.
