TOP 10 EARNERS IN THE EPL

10. David Silva - £160,000-a-week –
We kick off with Manchester City’s midfield wizard David Silva. City splashed out £25m on the Spaniard in 2010, a fee he has more than justified over his time at the club. Earning an estimated £160,000-a-week, Silva has been instrumental in City’s rise to prominence

8.Fernando Torres and John Terry - £175,000-a-week
Tied for eighth spot are Chelsea duo Fernando Torres and John Terry. A £50m signing in.January 2011, Torres was viewed as the jewel in Roman Abramovich’s crown and as such was handed a hefty wage packet. John Terry’s status at the club is underlined in the size of his earnings, with the England man now in the latter stages of his career.

7. Mesut Ozil - £180,000-a-week –
Arsenal smashed their transfer record and consequently their wage structure to land Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid in the summer. At an estimated £180,000-a-week, the German is by far the most paid Arsenal player in history!

6. Eden Hazard - £185,000-a-week
While Torres and Terry hold particular weight at Stamford Bridge,Chelsea’s highest earner is in fact Belgian superstar Eden Hazard. The attacker has quickly established himself as arguably the Blues’ best player and his salary certainly reflects that.

5. Luis Suarez - £220,000-a-week –
Having recently signed a new long-term contract at Liverpool, Luis Suarez became the club’s highest paid player in it’s history, earning a reported £220,000-a-week. His salary is rumoured to include incentives such as goal- scoring bonuses and league finishes, which can see that rise to around £240,000.

3. Sergio Aguero and Robin van Persie -£225,000-a-week –
The value of this strike partnership cannot be underestimated, with Aguero winning Man City their first league title in over 50 years, while Robin van Persie fired Man United to their 20th crown last season. As such they each earn an estimated £225,000-a-week.

2. Yaya Toure – £240,000-a-week –
Despite Aguero’s importance to City’s fortunes, the highest earner at the Etihad is African Footballer of the Year Yaya Toure. The Ivorian has come to represent City’s rise to prominence and was once the highest earning player in the premier league.

1. Wayne Rooney - £250,000 per week
Rooney sits on top of this list as the highest paid footballer in the land and if the present rumor is true that he is about to sign another contract worth £300,000 a week, he will put further distance between himself and the rest!
