WALCOTT OUT FOR SIX MONTHS, A MASSIVE BLOW FOR ARSENAL TITLE DEFENCE

Arsenal chances of landing their first premiership title after 8major seasons without one took a massive blow yesterday as the news was confirmed of Walcott's six month lay off, effectively rulling him out of the rest of the season and the World cup. This comes as a big blow not only to.Arsenal's title challenge but England's hope of making impact at this year's mundial.

It was first thought Walcott would be out for just 4weeks but as confirmed on Arsenal.com, it will be a 6 month lay off

Arsenal.com stated: 'After coming off injured in Saturday’s 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur, the Club regrettably announces that Theo Walcott has sustained a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee.

Theo will have surgery in London in the near future and is expected to be out for at least six
months, therefore missing the remainder of the season and the World Cup in Brazil in the
summer.

Everyone at Arsenal wishes Theo a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him back on a football pitch as soon as possible. For a team already lightweight in the striking department, this comes as a major blow. But much more Theo offers a different kind of threat from every other forward Arsenal has in it's ranks.

With Giroud out and Podolski just returning to full fitness Arsene Wenger may need to look to the January transfer window to make that key signing that will make up for Walcott's absence. Or could it be that the emerging Serge Gnabry could be the answer following his superb display against Tottenham in the FA cup or could it be the returning Oxlade Chamberlain? Time will tell.

But just before his injury Walcott looks the most dangerous of Arsenal forwards. In 9games this season with 4 started on the bench, Walcott has racked up 5goals,4 assists with a key pass per game and pass success rate of 81.4%. An amazing stats considering his goal+assist ratio is 1. Meaning Walcott has scored or assisted in every game he has played in this season!

Can Arsenal continue to sustain their title challenge despite all the injuries as they have done all seasons? Will Wenger delve into the January transfer window? Or could Gnabry be the answer? Lot of questions begging to be answered as we head into the remainder of the season.
