MANCHESTER CITY AND BARCELONA 11 COMBINED
Its not the easiest team to select, a team of just 11 from over 20+ players of incredible quality is not as easy as its first seems. No matter what formation you settle for some players will still miss out!
Truth is a Man.City/ Barcelona combined team 11 can produce 2 to 3 teams of high quality that will stand against any team in the world.
Nevertheless at Soccertalk we have settled for a combined Man.City/ Barca 11 that is intent on attacking, so we go for a 3-4-3 formation.
Victor Valdes - Goalkeeper, GK
Joe Hart has potential to be one of the games best shot stopper, but one man who has been there and seen it all is Victor valdes and he is our goalkeeper. He has, been Barca safe hands for season's and so deserve this spot for his experience.
Gerard Pique, CB
The 27 year old may not be a rock of Gilbrattar at the back like past seasons, but still is a rock nonetheless. He has even chipp in with 2goals this season
Vincent Kompany, CB
How Barca will wish they could partner him for real at the back witn Gerard pique! Season might have been hampered by injury but still no one can take his place even when half fit!
Javier Mascherano, CB
Underrated, uncelebrated, but still solid at the back. Mascherano name may not fill the headlines but with an average of 3.5 tackles, 2.9 interception and 3.4 clearances per game, its hard to ignore him.
Xavi, Central Midfield
He is still the metronome of the Barca team that keeps them ticking, tiki-taka. Even at his age no one in the whole of Europe makes, more passes per game than he, 91.2 passes per game at pass success rate of 93.1% success rate! And still he can still give the killer passes: 1.5 key passes per game!
Yaya Toure, Central midfield
We want a bit of solidity physicality, and mobility to our midfield hence we pick Yaya over Busquets. He may not completes as much passes as he but Yaya is,our perfect box to box midfielder. While Xavi anchors the midfield from deep with his passes, Yaya keeps it mobile as he moves from box to box providing defence at the back and offensive threat at the other box. You certainly want goals from the middle, Yaya will certainly do just that just like he has done all seasons for city scoring 12 and assisting 4.
David Silva, Midfield Right
We just got to have the fleet footed Spaniard in the team. His creativity and artistry on the ball cannot be ignored. When he is on song City is menacing. His key passes of 4 per game is,one of Europe's highest!
Iniesta, Midfield left
When you have Xavi in your team you just have to complete it by having Iniesta close by. He is one such player that stats can't really measure his impacts. But still he has 1 goal and 4assists this season! His incisive dribbles through the middle will provided needed penetration upfront.
Sanchez, Forward Left
Neymar may be the glamour signing and has lived up to the hype so far with 10goals and 11 assists, but nonetheless its an old signing the Chilean who has proved crucial for the Catalans this season, scoring 15 times and assisting 6. All crucial goals especially in the absence of Messi.
Leo Messi, Forward Right
He doesn't need much write up, his records speaks for him. Few players are considered as Legend when their career is still active, but Leo is. Hampered by injury so far but he is back banging in the goals: 13 goals and 8 assists! Don't be suprised if he climbs back up to the top of the scoring chart! He breaks any record he wants!
Sergio Aguero, Forward Centre
The third Argentine on this list is the City centre forward who has been banging in the goals for City. But for injuries he would have scored more than the 15goals he has presently!
